“Both a poet and nonfiction writer, her work was published widely and she gave readings and talks around the world,” according to her obituary in the Ithaca Journal on Oct. 21, 2006.

Her literary works, as seen on Amazon.com, include five books of poetry (Eight Colors Wide; Ninth Life; Come Wind, Come Weather; Afterings; and the award-winning Summons,), three memoirs (The Island of the White Cow, From Where We Stand, and A Family of Strangers), a collection of poetry she co-edited titled The Poet’s Notebook, and issues of the Seneca Review, a journal she edited.
